Dusting Yourself Off

Posted by georgiannasaysjustdoyou on June 17, 2011

It is so hard to recover from a bad decision, a bad experience, a negative situation. Dusting yourself off sounds good in theory, but how do you do it?

Last night I attended a Women in Leadership celebration put on by Color Magazine (in Boston). The line-up was amazing. While many comments resonated with me, my favorite was from Judge Maria Lopez. She talked about decisions she has made, judgments that had impact on others. She said that no one was perfect and everyone will make bad decisions in life. She copes by getting up in the morning brushing her hair, putting on her lipstick and going to work. What else can you do?

Has dwelling really ever helped anyone? Of course you should reflect, figure out where you might have gone wrong, and perhaps strategize on how you might avoid something similar in the future.

In other words, that is a practical application of dusting yourself off. Use the knowledge of the past to inform the future.

I don’t have the answers, but I always have thoughts. Won’t you share yours?
