Counting your blessings while they are in front of you

Posted by georgiannasaysjustdoyou on January 28, 2011

Lately I have been around a lot of sorrow.  From friends with seriously ill children to family members who are at the end of the road here on earth.  This is a time where our friends and family need us more than ever.  It is a time when we actively pray, when we offer support and love, and when we see the best in each other.

During these times, you see tears, laughter, forgiveness and openness.  Sadly you also see a lot of anger and regret.  It is a tough time to reflect on how you could have, should have done better, given more, loved more, _________ more.

Take a look around you today.  Actively pray and nurture your relationship with God, with your family, with your friends.  Reflect on strained relationships and ask yourself, if they were seriously ill or at the end of their road today, would you behave differently?

Take an opportunity today to count your blessings and to appreciate and love them.  Each day is truly a gift.  You don’t know just how much until the gift is taken away…

I don’t have answers, but I always have thoughts.  Won’t you share yours?

This blog is in honor of Linda’s daughter Emily (please pray for her) and my Uncle Carlos (I will miss you).
