“Slacker”

Posted by georgiannasaysjustdoyou on May 15, 2010

No, I wasn’t talking to you, unless…you are a slacker.  The term “slacker” is used to refer to a person who avoids work. It is also used to refer to an educated person who is viewed as an underachiever.  I got that from wikipedia.  But in reality, we all know what a slacker is and if we are one.

We don’t have to define ourselves as a slacker in order to engage in lazy behavior.  So, in the short-term, slacking off is not necessarily a bad thing.  That depends, of course on what’s at stake.  But to be a long-term slacker means that it is time for you to evaluate what you are doing, why you are doing it and if you should make a change. You may say no, and that is up to you.  Remember that slacking has consequences.

In the short-term, you may be able to go undetected.  But in the long-term, people notice.  That behavior begins to define you to others.  I know many high functioning slackers.  High functioning?  They are smooth, smart and are able to pull out a winner periodically to cover their laziness.  Some people are fooled, and some are not.  That can only go on for so long.

Sometimes you are slacking because your life is not what you would like it to be.  I am not just talking about work either.  If that is the case, do something about it.  I don’t want to hear “I can’t” as a reason to not do anything…that is just slacker behavior.

Take charge of your life and be purposeful.  Choose your path.

I don’t have the answers, but I always have thoughts.
